Are aphrodisiacs psychophysiological? Do they affect the senses?

Many foods are said to be aphrodisiacs. In the US the FDA dismiss foods as aphrodisiacs.

Some say whether a food is or isn’t an aphrodisiac is all in your head

Is it folklore or nonesense that Casanova reportedly ate 50 raw oysters a day.

Is it true that Honey named the nectar of Aphrodite, and couples would drink honeyed mead on their “honeymoon.” Why do chocolate sales rocket every Valentine’s Day.

Whilst for many, fruits such as strawberries, berrys, pears and peaches stir up feelings.

Both men and women associated food with passion. Along with  drinks or scents thay are believed to arouse sexual desire.

However the Food and Drug Administration nipped aphrodisiac claims in the bud when, in 1989, they declared there is no scientific proof for the reputed sexual effects of so-called aphrodisiacs and that they are based on folklore, not fact
